Tucker Marder will lead a tour of the Folly Tree Arboretum, a dendrological archive of over 250 rare, unusual and culturally significant trees located on the South Fork of Long Island. Trees in the collection include a sycamore that went to the moon on Apollo 14, a tree with useless fruits, and an oak tree that owns itself. Folly Tree Arboretum produces projects that explore the ways in which culture, narrative and imagination form human's relationship to the natural world as well as supports the work of others who are developing new and creative methods of environmental story telling.

The Folly Tree Arboretum is a dendrological archive of over 250 rare, unusual and culturally significant trees located on the south fork of Long Island. Founded in 2013, the Folly Tree Arboretum works to promote an exuberant environmental ethic through art and science. Trees in the collection include a sycamore that went to the moon on Apollo 14, a tree with useless fruits and an oak tree that owns itself. Folly Tree Arboretum produces projects that explore the ways in which culture, narrative and imagination form human's relationship to the natural world as well as supports the work of others who are developing new and creative methods of environmental story telling.

Tucker Marder is an artist living and working between Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and Long Island, New York. Working in a wide range of mediums including puppetry, film and horticulture Tucker uses humor and absurdity to promote an exuberant environmental ethic, countering pessimistic prevailing trends towards ecological hopelessness. He has exhibited at the National Aviary, Phipps Botanical Garden, and the Store Front for Art and Architecture. Tucker’s performance “STAMPEDE!”, comprised of over 225 live Crested Runner Ducks and large motorized abstract puppets premiered as part of the 2015 Parrish Art Museum’s Road Show. In 2016 he was named a Redford Center Grant Honoree. Tucker co-directed the film “The Tree Prophet” which won the audience choice awards for short documentary at the 2018 San Fransisco Independent Film Festival. He received his MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2016 and has been an artist in residence at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and SymbioticA at the university of Western Australia. Tucker is the founder of the Folly Tree Arboretum, a collection of over 250 rare and unusual trees intent on developing new and engaging environmental storytelling.
