Shared Bill: Baye & Asa, Kayla Farrish, Christopher Williams

John 4:20
Choreography/performers: Baye & Asa

An interrogation of our shared history - a physical exploration of our identities as New Yorker, Jew, Black youth, male dancer. Through the personal dynamics of our relationship we address the larger political landscape of our upbringing. John 4:20 captures our relationship as brothers & collaborators working through these ideas, struggling to show a reality of violence while communicating a necessity for empathy.

Excerpts from Love Suites and Axis
Choreography/Performer: Kayla Farrish

This weekend's works are inspired by whimsical and visceral film improvisations of Kayla happening as an unfolding story. In Axis, she is moved across space witnessing the inside of her home as she reacts to changes, and Love Suites gives her the space to swoon. The work plays with the hybrid of dance theater, film, and narrative.

Janet
Choreography: Christopher Williams
Performers: Janet Charleston, Mac Twining, Cemiyon Barber, Aaron Loux, & Logan Pedon
Music: “To the Evening Child” by Stephan Micus (1992)
Costumes: Ciera Wells

Janet was originally made especially for seasoned dancer Janet Charleston to be performed in Douglas Dunn’s loft studio at 541 Broadway. The piece, inspired by the Scottish faerie legend of Tam Lin, explores traditional themes of the “mythic hero’s journey” from a contemporary feminine perspective.
